As the mother of my own little one, I have discovered that it is a bit difficult to find Christian children's books. I have read to my son, Jace, since he was in my belly. I have long been interested in children's literacy, and wanting to raise a God-fearing man, I started looking for picture books that would help my son best understand the Christian way of life while also promoting his reading proficiency. I was inspired to create a series of children's books that centered on Christian beliefs and
values. It is my hope that children will enjoy these books as they better their reading skills and learn life lessons.
There are three books in the series – – Mikey Finds Her Confidence, Mikey Finds Her Faith, and Mikey Finds Her Gratefulness. Mikey--the main character--is a spunky and lively second grader who loves all things purple! (Mikey is short for Mikelle, which means "gift from God.") She lives with her little brother, Levi, their parents, and Grandma Frances. As Mikey deals with issues in life, such as confidence and having faith, Grandma Frances is her voice of reason. The character of Grandma Frances is modeled after my own maternal grandmother, who died in the mid 90s. Levi, Mikey's little brother, is modeled after my 10 year- old son, Jace. Both boys are on the autism spectrum and share lovable and comical personalities. Both Mikey and I share a love of purple and have bright, toothy smiles.
The books in the Mikey series are targeted toward pre-kindergarten to upper elementary children. And it is my hope and prayer that the series becomes a family favorite!
Happy reading! Blessings upon blessings to you and yours. :-)
